This shade loving shrub grows 3 to 5 feet high by 3 feet wide. It has glossy green evergreen foliage and produces very fragrant flowers in mid-winter that are followed by red berries that ripen to black. Grows best in part to full shade in humus rich soil and is drought tolerant once established. Can be sheared if desired. Hardy to -10 degrees F. It has long been in cultivation and is thought to have originated in China. |
