This unusual perennial has light yellow nodding, tubular flowers in summer
which rise from dark green tufts of narrow linear leaves. It grows to 10" high and the tufts increase over time to form a substantial plant. Grow in sun with low water and excellent
drainage such as that found in scree bed, rock crevice, etc. With excellent drainage the plants in our garden have done well even through our wet winter weather. SE European native. Hardy to 0 degrees F.
Boraginaceae
Our plants were grown from seed we obtained under the above name, along with the name of another yellow Onosma, O. taurica. We have since learned that there has been confusion in the horticultural trade over the years about the correct name of several yellow European Onosmas. The genus will eventually be sorted out but, in the meantime, this plant is certainly a worthy and attractive addition to the rock garden or scree bed.
