Attractive evergreen subshrub 24”x 24” with mid-green foliage and purple, tubular flowers in late spring.   Sun to part shade, very well-drained soil, low to regular water.   Open forests and rocky slopes at mid to high elevations in the Oregon Coast Range and Cascades into Washington.   Hardy to -10 degrees F. Mat-forming perennial with pale yellow flowers on spikes up to 16” tall.   Sun to part shade, well-drained soil, low to moderate water.  Moist to dry meadows and open woodlands at low to mid-elevations in from Eastern Oregon north to BC and east to Montana. Mat-forming evergreen with small leaves, rooting stems and large lavender to purple flowers to in summer.  Grow in full sun to part shade in very well-drained soil, low water.   Hardy to –10 degrees F. Rocky outcroppings mid to high elevations in the Cascades.  Scrophulariaceae

Spikes of deep blue flowers to 3’ tall in spring with egg-shaped, evergreen basal leaves.  Grow in sun to part shade in well-drained soil with moderate to low water. Open forests and rocky outcroppings from low to mid-elevations in the Cascade mountains of Northern Oregon north into British Columbia.  Hardy to -10 degrees F. Scrophulariaceae

This low-growing penstemon has a compact form and attractive spikes of small purple flowers to about 6" in late spring.  It can be grown in sun or part shade in well-drained soil with low to regular water.  Our plants are grown from seed collected in the Washington State Cascades.  The species is found throughout the Western States in a wide variety of habitats at various elevations.  Mat-forming penstemon with spikes of small purple flowers to 10" tall in late spring.  It can be grown in sun to part shade in well-drained soil with low to regular water.  The well-developed basal leaves distinguish this sub-species which has a more restricted range from Northern California through Oregon.  Hardy to -10 degrees F. Upright penstemon to 3' with dentate, gray-green leaves, multiple stems and pink to lavender flowers in mid-summer.  Grow in sun to part shade in very well-drained soil with low water.  This is a northern Oregon native plant found in rocky areas from the Cascades eastward. Hardy to -10 degrees F. Scrophulariaceae

This is an attractive mat-forming penstemon with gray-green foliage and vivid pink flowers on short stems in summer.  It can be grown in sun or part shade in poor, very well-drained soil with low to regular water.  It is found on rocky outcroppings in the Siskiyou Mountains in Northern California, Steens Mountain, Oregon and the Cascades from Oregon into Southern Washington.  Hardy to -20 degrees F. This easy to grow Penstemon has serrated leaves and purple, tubular flowers in summer.   24”x12” Grow in sun to part shade in well-drained soil, moderate water.  This one tends to be a seeder in my garden and I like to grow it in less fertile areas that receive little summer irrigation - the plant still does great and there are fewer seedlings to pull.  Found along moist rocky slopes and streambanks in the Oregon Cascades north to BC.   Hardy to -10 degrees F. Scrophulariaceae
