Hebe 'Amy' is a handsome evergreen shrub to 24 " x 24 " (some authorities list 5' but it has not gotten that large in our garden) with dark red stems and emerging leaves, large dark green leaves and spikes of purple flowers in late summer.

Grow in sun to part shade in poor to moderately fertile soil with moderate water.  Winter hardy where the temperatures drop into the mid teens for short periods.  Otherwise, protect from winter cold.  Scrophulariaceae

Mountain Hebe

This is one of the small leaf Hebes that are reported to be among the most cold hardy of the genus.  It is a variable plant and our seed grown plants range in leaf color from green to gray with flower colors from pale to fairly deep lilac.  Our most floriforous plant is pictured at left, with its truly beautiful flower display in late spring.  Compact evergreen 12 x 12".

Grow in sun to part shade in poor to moderately fertile, well drained soil.  The species is from the South Island of New Zealand where it grows in dry, rocky places.

It should be hardy into the teens F. Scrophulariaceae
