Evergreen tufts of soft, gray-green leaves with reddish spikes of purplish flower panicles.  12-18” X 8-12”  Grow in sun to part shade in well-drained soil.  Drought tolerant.  Central and Eastern Europe.  Hardy to –30 degrees F.  Poaceae

Fine textured greenish gray grass that looks something like a mop of hair to us.  Lovely dense flower panicles in spring.  Nice compact size to 12” X 12”  Grow in sun to part shade in well-drained soil.    Drought tolerant.  Found in woodland and grassland habitats in Australia.  Hardy to –10 degrees F.  Poaceae

Bearskin Fescue

Compact, mounding evergreen grass with panicles of violet flowers in late summer.  6” high X up to 10” wide.  Grow in sun in very well-drained soil.   Drought tolerant.  This is an attractive, compact grass that works well in containers or small-scale rock gardens.  Hardy to –10 degrees F.
