Rosettes of spikey leaves and branched stems with cylindrical blue flowers surrounded by showy bracts in summer. 30 x 18". It is a deciduous, tap-rooted perennial that dislikes root disturbances. The unusual flowers can be used in dried arrangements.
Grow in sun in very well drained, poor to moderately fertile soil with low water. Native to the Jura, Alp and Balkan mountains of Europe where it is found in alpine and subalpine grasslands. Hardy to -20 degrees F. Apiaceae
