Small cushion of needle-like foliage covered with many pink flowers in spring.   1 X 4”.   Sun to part shade, gritty, sharply drained, mod fertile soil.   Perfect in a trough.  Hardy to –20 degrees F.   Primulaceae

Snow Dwarf Douglasia

 

Alan Bradshaw of Alplains collected the seed for this gem in Chelan County, WA at 5700 ft.  His description: "Gorgeous blue-gray compact mounds composed of linear downy leaves in rosettes.  Umbels of deep rosy-pink to rosy magenta flowers smother cushions." 3 x 16".   Sun to part shade, gritty, sharply drained soil.   Hardy to –20 degrees F.   Primulaceae

In the nearby Entiat Mountains of Chelan County, WA at 5800 ft, Ron Ratko, another premier western alpine seed collector, describes his collection of Douglasia nivalis var. nivalis as "another beautiful alpine from the eastern Cascade Mountains".  We agree.  Sun to part shade, gritty, sharply drained soil.   Hardy to –20 degrees F.   Primulaceae
