SAXIFRAGE

The genus Saxifraga is a large group of plants that has been further divided into Sections.

An excellent reference book for this large and varied group is

Saxifrages - A Definitive Guide to the 2000 Species, Hybrids & Cultivars by Malcolm McGregor (Timber Press 2008)

which details the latest nomenclature and classification information.

DWARF CUSHION SAXIFRAGE

This group of section Porphyrion (including Engleria and Kabschia) species and hybrids includes some of the most desirable and beautiful alpine specimens.  Excellent for the trough or alpine garden, they require cool temperatures, and very well drained, gritty soil.

We would like to acknowledge John Nichols of Little Tree Nursery who generously shared his 20+ year collection of Saxifrages with us.  They are great additions to our Saxifrage group. Thanks, John!
