Mat-forming shrubby groundcover with trailing stems of small green leathery leaves and clusters of urn-shaped pink to white flowers followed by bright red berries. Can spread up to 8' in a few years time, so give it room to grow. Grow in sun to part shade in well-drained, acidic soil. It is drought tolerant once established. Hardy to -50 degrees F. Native throughout Northern North America and the mountains of the Western US. Used in herbal medicine. Ericaceae
