Only 6” high,  this attractive dwarf columbine lavender-blue and white flowers in late spring. Grow in full or part sun in rocky, well drained, moist soil.   Use in a small-scale rock garden, trough or other container.   Japan.  Hardy to –30 F.

A hybrid of two choice alpine Columbines, A. jonesii from the Bighorn Mountains northward and A. saximontana from the Rockies The result is a small, dense cluster of foliage and large, deep blue, only slightly nodding, flowers with the hooked spurs more characteristic of A. saximontana.
