Androsace This is a large group of cushion or mat forming plants from the alpine regions of the Northern hemisphere. Because of their compact size and often showy flowers, they are prized by growers of alpine plants. Cultivation is most successful in troughs, scree beds and tucked among rocks in rock gardens. Grit mulch protects the crown from moisture. Most species appreciate protection from hot afternoon sun.
